Change Matters

Jul 8, 2015 by Kris H.

You may think this post is about the changes we recently made to our website. Well, today we’re talking about a different type of change. The change you have in your pocket or purse. To borrow a line from The Georgia Satellites… the “change in your pocket goin' jing-a-ling-a-ling.” That change.

You may not think twice about change, but it’s money. At TTCU, we know money matters. Whether you’re saving up for Christmas gifts, a summer vacation or the latest gadget, change can help you get there.

Here’s your take-home exercise for today. Go into your kitchen or run to the store and get a large, clear container or a glass jar. Now gather up all of the change in your life - check your car, the nightstand and on top of the washing machine. Next, call a family meeting. It’s time for you to decide on a goal. It may be something large that several people can enjoy or you could turn this exercise into an educational experience for just one child. Regardless of the goal, encourage everyone to pitch in.

Now the last step is key. Once you’ve collected a sizable amount, secure the change in a Ziploc bag or container and visit one of the following TTCU branches. You see, it’s time to prove that change matters. That small glass jar might be a trip to the movies. That plastic jug might be a new iPad. You might be surprised by how far a little change can go.

Our locations below offer free coin counting for members. Drop off your collection and at the end of the day, we’ll count it and add the total to your TTCU account. While you’re dropping off, we’d love to hear your story. How many people are pitching in? What’s the goal?
